Persian salt is a blue or violet tinted natural salt. The mineral potassium chloride is made responsible for this unusual colouring. Potassium chloride is always deposited in halites and normally has the colour of rose or yellow. Only in exceptional circumstances it appears as a blue variation. The speciality of this natural salt is its extremely salty taste in the first moment of consumption. This sensation does not last long, but afterwards a pleasant flavour remains on the tongue. |
